Out & About in Aberdeen

After a week of non stop work me and David decided to go on a stress free day out around town; day tickets at the ready:

1. First we bussed over to Newton Dee for a nice morning walk, chicken spotting and organic shopping.

2. Then we bussed over to the other side of town to Kittybrewster (a quick peek in TK Maxx) and ended up walking over to Spital so visited Mrs Smiths for some lunch/afternoon tea and giant slice of victoria sponge cake with amazing fruity easter topping.
3. Next we walked over Broad Hill, saw the By Order of Me installation and snapped some skyline pics for project research.
4. Then we went to see Trance at the beach Cineworld (a rare use of the unlimited cards!)
5. Finally we had the perfect shaped whippy ice cream and a chilly seaside stroll.

Candy Beach

This weekend I have an insane amount of drawing to do for a uni project to design a wall mural - so no time to leave the house but at least I have Daisy for company... It's been another one of those weeks where a million and one things have happened and I seem to be getting nowhere with my Big To Do Lists. This might have something to do with working in my Dad's office for a few days on top of course work, Bottled Treasures and other bits and bobs. One of these bits and bobs is the Candy Belle Vintiques Mayfest poster design which you can see the making of from mood board via sketchbook to final in this post. I can't wait for this event; it will be the launch of an exciting new Bottled Treasures collection (which I've been keeping secret for a while now) and a great chance to shop vintage!

Cup - Purveyor of teas

Yesterday I was lucky enough to have time to experience Cup; a new cafe and tea salon in Aberdeen. We were only there for a short while for a project meeting so I just managed a tea... although it was a pomegranate blackberry iced tea which made a refreshing change from the usual choices around town! I can't wait to go back and have a chocolate afternoon tea or some breakfast treats - everything looks so yummy (you can see their menu here). I loved the cute and calm interior design, with little birds dotted around the place and Alice in Wonderland themed toilets! You can visit Cup on facebook to find out more.

Buttons and Bows Branding

As part of my "How to Brand Your Business" project I am working with Buttons and Bows Hair Accessories on a new look and fun website. We're playing on the textures used in the making of their products to give everything the handmade look of their hair accessories. The ideas is that the website will feel more interactive and give the user a better experience of the products. Today I've been working on some potential illustrations!

Snapshot

1. Went to the new Aberdeen Ministry of Craft fair, my Mum (Deep Blue Sea Silver) was trial running her new stall display - it looked amazing and was a great day all round! 2. New purple glitter heart drop earrings from Antoinette who was also at Ministry of Craft fair. So sparkly! 3. Currently in a cake free zone thanks to attempting to cut out sugary snacks and junk food :( 4. Pretty parcel from Ginger Pickle, a small treat for myself (makes up for lack of sugar!) 5. Lilac heart eyelet boots, a big treat for myself (perfect match for my Bottled Treasures logo, couldn't resist) a bargain from Sports Direct believe it of not! 6. Some new designs currently for sale in Offset 57 pop up shop in the Academy shopping centre.
